Now, a license is needed to carry out digital mining activities. To get the license, an individual entrepreneur or a legal entity submits an electronic application on the elicense.kz portal.

Now, pursuant to the Order of the Minister of MDDIAI RK as of April 28, 2023 No. 169/NK, to carry out digital mining activities, it is necessary to get a license for this type of activity.

The digital mining license is issued in two subtypes:

I subtype: carrying out digital mining activities by a digital miner who has a digital mining data center on the right of ownership or other legal grounds;

II subtype: carrying out digital mining activities by a digital miner who does not have a digital mining data center on the right of ownership or other legal grounds and carries out digital mining using a hardware and software complex for digital mining owned on the right of ownership and located in the digital mining data center.

To get the license, one needs to fill-in an application on the elicense.kz portal. In an application, it is necessary to specify information about the location of data center for digital mining and method of purchasing electric energy and attach the required documents (appendix 11 to the Order).

The public service delivery term is 15 working days. The license is sent and kept in a user's personal account in the "My Licenses" module. If an application was rejected, a substantiated refusal is kept in "My applications" module.

Also, when changing a data center address, name and location of legal entity and individual entrepreneur, re-organization and availability of requirements for re-issuance in the Laws of the Republic of Kazakhstan, it is necessary to re-issue the license. To do this, select a license in your personal account, click "Re-issue" button and fill-in an application indicating a reason for re-issuance.

It should be reminded that the information about digital mining activities announced previously was canceled due to the release of the Order.
