The UN representative appreciated the eGov portal and the eGov mobile application

Today, National Information Technologies JSC management met with Mr. Vincenzo Aquaro, Chief of Digital Government Branch in UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs.

During the meeting, Rostislav Konyashkin, Chairman of the Board of National Information Technologies JSC, presented the new updates to the eGov Mobile application, public services transferred to second-tier banks, and the work of the eGov.kz Portal and Ashyq app during the pandemic as well as the single platform of government agencies` websites (gov.kz). Rostislav Konyashkin presented each project in real time and answered the guest's questions.

Mr. Vincenzo was particularly interested whether all the segments of population have access to public services and in the ways of ensuring the security of citizens' data when using biometrics.

Summing up the meeting, Vincenzo Aquaro highlighted that many right initiatives are presented in the countries of the world, but every year when he comes to Kazakhstan, he sees how projects are actually implemented in the real life for citizens. The UN representative noted Kazakhstan's progressive experience in the e-Government development, which should be applied in other countries of the world. He also emphasized the importance and relevance of a vehicle re-registration service in the second-tier bank applications, since in Europe citizens face difficulties with a similar service.

It should be reminded that there is the United Nations E-Government Survey, which assesses the readiness and capabilities of national government structures in 193 countries to use information and communication technologies (ICT) to provide public services to citizens. The survey contains data on the level of e-Government development in various countries, as well as comprehensive assessment of trends in the use of ICT by government agencies. The UN publishes researches and the e-Government Development Index once in 2 years, usually in July.

Thus, in 2020, based on the results of the index, the eGov.kz Portal ranked 29th, while in 2018 Kazakhstan was in 39th position.
