The validity term of PKI keys has been extended to three years

National Information Technologies JSC, in collaboration with National Certification Authority of the Republic of Kazakhstan, would like to inform of extending the validity term of PKI keys issued on the secure media.

From now on, users shall have the capability of issuing the registration certificates (PKI keys) on the secure media with key information, such as ID card, eToken PRO 72K, JaCarta, Kaztoken, Akey for 3 years’ validity.

However, the validity term of PKI keys on the file system shall still be 1 year, because this type of storage is not a certified one and does not allow securely storing the private keys for a long time.

The main objective for extending the validity term of PKY keys is the convenience for citizens. While previously users had to get the keys renewed every year through Personal Cabinet or in a branch of “Government for Citizens” Public Corporation, now the need for reissuance and, respectively, for visiting Public Corporation’s branches will only arise once in three years.

It should be reminded that 30, 15, 7 days before the expiry of PKY keys, a notice about the need to renew the key shall come to a user’s mailing address (if a user has indicated his/her mailing address when submitting the application).
