Kazakhstan moved up four places to 24^th out of 193 in the UN global E-Government Development Index and took the first place among developing inland countries. The UN experts praised the effectiveness of e-Government in Kazakhstan and the use of digital public services to improve the quality of life of its citizens. The experts also marked the e-Gov portal and the e-License and Smart Data Ukimet projects, which are operated by NITEC JSC.

According to the E-Government Survey 2024, Denmark, Estonia and Singapore are among the top three leaders in e-government development, ranking 1^st, 2^nd and 3^rd respectively. Kazakhstan ranks ahead of countries such as Switzerland and Turkey. This is one of the best indicators for Kazakhstan in the history of its participation in the UN ranking.

The major results of Kazakhstan based on the results of the published survey are as follows:

• Kazakhstan is in the group of countries with a very high e-government development index, ranking 24^th out of 193 countries. Kazakhstan is followed by Uruguay (25^th), Switzerland (26^th), Turkey (27^th), France (34^th), China (35^th) and Canada (47^th). It is worth noting that Kazakhstan was in 28^th place in the index in 2022.
• Kazakhstan took the 10^th place in the Online Services Index (OSI), along with the leaders of the world ranking — South Korea, Denmark and Estonia. Kazakhstan has also become one of the leading countries in this field, ahead of China, Germany and Australia.
• Kazakhstan continues to lead among the CIS countries, ahead of the Russian Federation (43^rd place), Armenia (48^th place), Uzbekistan (63^rd place) and Azerbaijan (74^th place).
• Kazakhstan ranks 1^st among inland countries with an EGDI index of 0.9009. It is followed by Mongolia, Armenia and Uzbekistan.
• Kazakhstan has significantly improved its position in the Telecommunications Infrastructure Index (TII), moving up 23 places to 41^st.

The survey also highlights that Kazakhstan has made significant progress in the field of digital transformation, actively investing in digital infrastructure and adopting advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, blockchain and the Internet of Things (IoT). These initiatives have significantly changed the management and provision of public services, making them more accessible and transparent, including through solutions such as E-License and Smart Data Ukimet.

It should be reminded that there is the UN E-Government Development Index ("The United Nations E-Government Survey: E-Government for the People"), which assesses the readiness and capabilities of national government structures in 193 countries to use information and communication technologies (ICT) to deliver public services to citizens. The survey contains data on the level of e-Government development in various countries, as well as comprehensive assessment of trends in the use of ICT by government agencies. The UN publishes the survey and the E-Government Development Index once in 2 years.
